ADAMA Arts Salon: Invitation, Preservation, and Documentation into her Practice - African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA)

African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA)
ADAMA Arts Salon: Invitation, Preservation, and Documentation into her Practice

salon series curated and moderated by Sierra King of Build Your Archive
keondra bills-freemyn & Zakiya Collier

How an artist moves and navigates through the world innately reflects in their practice. This has become evident in the journey of Zora Neale Hurston as she became transient the moment her family relocated to Eatonville, Florida. Also seen when Carrie Mae Weems challenged herself beyond the Kitchen Table Series to make Roaming where she stood amongst the land and cityscapes. In the following salon series curated by Sierra King of Build Your Archive, the audience will be introduced to artists and archivists who have charted their own pathways allowing them to continue to make the work that is calling to be made. More importantly, how their place in the world, remembrance of ancestors, lineage, and documentation cements a legacy into the future.

Watch recording.
