Thursday Night Talk/BHM Guest Series: "A Conversation with Marilyn Nance”

Marilyn Nance has produced photographs of unique moments in the cultural history of the U.S. and the African Diaspora, culminating in an archive of images of late 20th-century African American life. A 2022 Magnum Foundation Counter Histories Fellow, Nance is a two-time finalist for the W. Eugene Smith Award in Humanistic Photography. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), and the Library of Congress, and has been published in The World History of Photography, History of Women in Photography, and The Black Photographers Annual.

Nance, who attended ITP from 1996-1998, will talk about the intersection of Black History and tech history.
